Our engineering internships are designed to provide meaningful exposure to real consulting and engineering assignments. Depending on the intern's academic background and interests, as well as the projects available at that time, interns may assist with research, data analysis, field activities, engineering calculations, technical documentation, project preparation, monitoring and reporting, business development, knowledge management, and other professional activities.  

While our internships serve as invaluable learning experiences, interns are also expected to contribute responsibly to ensure the quality and timely delivery of their assigned work.

Internship assignments at Ecosysco depend on current projects and business needs, providing a unique opportunity for students to apply for internship positions that align with their educational backgrounds. Possible areas of exposure include:

• Energy and Power Systems:  Gain insights into renewable energy, solar PV, battery energy storage systems, power-sector research, electricity demand analysis, energy policy, grid development, and regional power-sector issues.

• Energy Efficiency and Resource Efficiency: Engage in energy data analysis, energy audits, equipment inventories, as well as enhancing industrial and building energy efficiency through energy performance monitoring and measurement verification.

• Climate Change and Sustainability: Work on climate mitigation strategies, conduct greenhouse-gas analysis, assist with NDC implementation, and research climate-resilient infrastructure, MRV processes, and sustainable development initiatives.

• Project Preparation and Feasibility: Participate in project identification, data collection, and options assessment, as well as technical studies, feasibility analysis, cost estimation, financial and economic analysis, and preparation of essential project documentation.

• Sustainable Infrastructure: Conduct research and analysis related to transport, buildings, water, waste, urban infrastructure, and other low-carbon or climate-resilient infrastructure projects.

• Environmental Services: Contribute to environmental data collection, soil and water quality assessments, pollution evaluation, environmental monitoring, and remediation-related research, while supporting environmental safeguards as needed.

• Digital Energy, Data and AI: Involve yourself in data cleaning and analysis, dashboard creation, digital MRV, GIS applications, energy analytics, forecasting, automation, and the responsible application of AI in energy and project-development activities.

• Finance and Investment Readiness: Assist in market research, project-cost analysis, investment research, financial-model inputs, climate finance, and the preparation of investment-related information.

• Business Development and Knowledge Management: Contribute to tender research, maintain consultant databases, manage CVs, gather project references, and prepare proposals, presentations, reports, and knowledge materials.

Interns in these engineering internships will only undertake tasks appropriate to their level of education, experience, and supervision.

Availability: Full-time, part-time, or a university-required placement. 

Preferred starting date: Applicants should specify the earliest date they can commence their internship. 

Location: Most Ecosysco internships are based in Phnom Penh, with potential for project-related travel or field visits when appropriate. 

Working arrangement: Generally office-based or hybrid, depending on the assignment and supervision requirements.
